WSSFN 2021



Dear Colleagues,

We have been actively monitoring the evolving situation world-wide related to the COVID-19 pandemic problems.

The issues from Covid-19 pandemic are affecting all of us in many different aspects, regardless of where we are and what we are doing.

I want to update you on our counter-measures with the Covid-19 situation for our 19th biennial meeting of WSSFN which had been scheduled for June, 2021. As we all are well aware, relevant to our field of functional neurosurgery, almost all of the society meetings have been canceled, delayed, or moved to virtual conferences. Our concerns are that Covid-19 will likely continue to effect the world in 2021, including the possibility of continued quarantines for travel. Further, the economic effect has been profound both to hospitals and industry.

As the health and well-being of our participants (members, stakeholders, etc.) is of paramount importance to our society, the decision has been made to postpone the 19th biennial meeting of the WSSFN for one year. We will be announcing the new dates in the near future.

Please note that this postponement will be a fully equivalent replacement for the originally planned congress. We advise you to check the congress website regularly as we continue to provide updates and relevant information about the congress in 2022.

In the meantime, we encourage all of our members to participate in the webinars that will be developed by our society.

These webinars of WSSFN will serve as a good opportunity to educate the residents and young faculty even with the postponement of our biennial meeting. The detailed information regarding the webinars is available on our website.

As president, I am very sorry for informing you of the postponement of our biennial meeting that was planned for 2021. However, through this postponement it will allow us the ability to facilitate more active participation from the global community and will aim to build an inclusive society which reaches out to all parts of the world.

I hope that every one of you will have a safe and health time during this pandemic period.
